What was the highlight of Hotel Balneario de Gravalos

Odd place with nice rooms and spa pool but not enough staff - at least when we were there. Sun pm

Staff very helpful

Unable to get food in the cafeteria at 2.30 pm (open until 11 pm) but only serving drinks. Having failed to get food earlier we were unable to eat in the restaurant at night as we had not booked. The restaurant never had more than 3 couples in it the whole evening - we could see it from the cafeteria where we were able to get light dishes. The obliging waitress was trying to cope with the cafeteria on her own - with people like us unable to eat in the restaurant Disappointed that at a spa there was no pool in which to swim- website misleading with its tall of a pool - which there is but only with warm water and sprays etc. All very nice but not the same as having a proper swim.

The breakfast is good and the bedroom with a balcony with nice views. Very quiet place. Smell sulphuric water, but that is normal if it is a natural spring.

Both saunas were not working. Temperature in the dry sauna was 45 degrees, so no sauna. Other sauna no steam.

We were able to have our little dog there.

We were able to have our little dog there. Lovely view in daylight, quiet, nice starter and dessert for our meal.

It was soulless, smelt heavily of sulphur, because it is a spa maybe? Not overly friendly staff other than one waitress who was charming. Very tough steak.

The room had a small window so high up that you could not...

The room had a small window so high up that you could not see out. You had to stand up on something to see out of it. Not good especially when there were lovely views to be seen outside. The room felt very closed in. It was on the 3th floor.

What was the highlight of Hotel Balneario de Gravalos

We really enjoyed it!

This is a place for those who wants a relaxing and quite holiday. The hotel is located in an isolated area, the closest towns are 20 minutes by car. We went visiting Pamplona and Soria which are 1 and a half hour away from the hotel. Food at the restaurant of the hotel is quite good. Our dog was able to stay free outside (where there is a big garden) and in our room, in the other areas of the hotel the dog was not allowed.

I would not suggest to have dinner at the bar of the restaurant.

The scenic view is amazing.

The scenic view is amazing. There is a free car park.

There was an important humidity in the bathroom. We had dinner at the property. The staff was friendly but had no know-how about the table service. They wanted to play as if we were in a five-star hotel. They served processed food which was confirmed when I got my fruit salad. They opened a tin of peach and pear mix. We wanted to taste a white wine from the local region which is quite famous: Rioja. They served a bad quality wine whose origin was unknown to the staff. I hope that this comment will help them improve their level of service.

Modern hot spa with nice features but rather poor food

Modern hotel possibly from the 1970s, at the border of a very small village. Not much of a cuisine in the village, so you are left with the hotel restaurant only. Large free open parking. Efficient and very friendly staff at the reception and in the spa and very friendly but much less efficient staff in the restaurant and spa ( nearly no english spoken ). Sufficiently spacious rooms and bathrooms, all very well kept and clean including the spa. It is a health spa with hot mineral water. The spa is open only in some very exact hours, in between guests should rest. The Spa itself with hot and wet sauna and inside hot pool containing several whirl pools is included in the price; concerning this the hotel offers a _ r e a l l y _ o u t s t a n d i n g _ relation value for money. But additonal health applications are rather or even very expensive. WIFI in the afternoon rather poor, but quite well in the night.

Completely in contrast to the health spa most of the food was very heavy in calories or even in fat; many things deep fried or very fat pork. Food quality in the sense of taste rather mediocre or even poor. Breakfast buffet ok, but not too much variety. You have to book your times for the spa and for the restaurant in advance and have to respect them quite exactly. This is no problem for guests who will stay at least for one week but could be a problem for those to stay only one night. But I did really have an excellent white wine for dinner.

Air con in room wasn’t effective. Maintenance man looked and said it was working and marched off leaving us in hit room. Good times are limited
